It was great to come together at the KPMG offices to share our Prototype Planning Documents and reflect on where we are at in our innovation journey. Presenting my idea for Pūkoro Pāngarau helped me clarify the vision and think more deeply about the problem I’m trying to solve. The idea is to create a one-stop hub where kaiako can access curriculum guidance, aligned rauemi, tasks, assessments and planning support in one place. There are still plenty of questions to work through, but that’s part of the process — challenging assumptions, listening to others and being open to different possibilities. Here are a few questions we were given to get going.
What has emerged to add clarity and confirmation to my thinking?
Chatting. Hearing and seeing the issues that my mates continually seem to have. Being on PLD with outher kaiako who are lost and not sure where to look or who to ask. Finding more people wh oare frustrated with pāngarau and some who are disengaged themselves because they don't know where to start
What has challenged or confronted my thinking?
How do I evolve what I already have, how do I choose what to include when things are constantly changing, who would I want to take advice from , who helps me choose what's valuable and what's unnecessary
What HMW statement am I currently confirming?
How might we empower kaiako to competently deliver a robust pāngarau programme

My next step is to begin prototyping the website, starting with a landing page and the number strand, then getting kaiako to explore it and share their feedback. I want to test whether the layout is intuitive, what content kaiako expect to find, and how resources should be organised to make the hub genuinely useful. My hypothesis is that a well-designed, centralised pāngarau hub will help kaiako feel more confident, engage more with the resources available, and use them more effectively in their planning and teaching. Success will mean listening carefully to kaiako, learning from their experiences, and refining the prototype so it responds to their real needs. It’s exciting to move from the big vision towards something tangible — while reminding myself that the first version doesn’t have to be perfect; it just needs to help me learn what works!
